How the Age Calculator Works
This calculator determines your exact age in years, months, and days from your date of birth. The calculation is precise and accounts for leap years, varying month lengths, and the exact day of your birthday.
The Calculation Method
The age calculation follows the international convention: completed years are determined by checking whether your birthday has already passed in the current year. If today is March 15 and your birthday is April 20, the current year has not yet been completed and is not counted.
Total months are obtained by multiplying the years by 12 and adding the extra months, with a further correction if the current day of the month is less than the birth day. Total days are calculated from the exact millisecond difference between the two dates, divided by 86,400,000 (milliseconds in a day).
Days Until Your Next Birthday
The calculator also shows how many days remain until your next birthday. This is useful for planning celebrations, setting reminders, or simply for curiosity. If your birthday is today, the countdown shows the days until next year's birthday.
Fun Facts About Birthdays
The most common birthday in many countries falls in September, roughly nine months after the holiday season. For people born on February 29, in non-leap years the birthday is conventionally celebrated on February 28 or March 1, depending on local tradition.
