How the Biorhythm Calculator Works
The biorhythm is a theory developed in the late 1800s and early 1900s by Berlin physician Wilhelm Fliess and later systematized by engineer Alfred Teltscher. This calculator applies three classical sine waves to determine the state of your physical, emotional, and intellectual cycles on a specific date.
The Three Biorhythm Cycles
Physical Cycle (23 days): governs physical strength, coordination, endurance, and body energy. In the positive phase (+) you have more energy; in the negative phase (-) the body needs rest.
Emotional Cycle (28 days): governs mood, sensitivity, creativity, and social skills. In the positive phase you are more optimistic and sociable; in the negative phase you tend toward melancholy.
Intellectual Cycle (33 days): governs concentration, memory, analytical ability, and logical reasoning. In the positive phase the mind is sharp; in the negative phase concentration is harder.
The Mathematical Formula
Value = sin(2pi x days_from_birth / period) x 100
The result oscillates between +100% (positive peak) and -100% (negative peak). The 0% value indicates a "critical day" -- the transition point between phases.
Scientific Context
The biorhythm theory was very popular in the 1970s. However, scientific studies have failed to demonstrate a significant correlation between calculated biorhythms and actual performance. The scientific community considers biorhythms a pseudoscience.
