How the Moving Cost Calculator Works
This tool provides an indicative estimate of your moving cost based on the key characteristics: home size, floor, distance, service type, and time of year. The result also includes the number of movers, truck type, and expected duration.
How the Cost Is Calculated
The cost of a move depends on several factors:
- Load volume: estimated at about 0.4 m3 per m2 of home. An 80 m2 apartment generates about 32 m3 of load
- Service type: from basic (transport only) to premium (complete packing and reassembly)
- Floor and elevator: without an elevator, costs increase by 5-45% depending on the floor
- Distance: transport costs especially for long-distance moves
- Season: during peak season, prices rise by 15-25%
The Three Service Levels
Basic service: the company provides transport only. You pack, disassemble, and reassemble. The most economical option but requires significant personal time and effort.
Standard service: includes disassembly and reassembly of main furniture, loading, and unloading. You handle packing personal and fragile items.
Premium service: everything included. The company packs every item, disassembles, loads, transports, unloads, reassembles, and collects used packing materials. The most expensive but also most convenient solution.
Tips to Save
- Compare at least 3 quotes: prices can vary 30-50% between different companies
- Move in off-season: January through March offers the lowest prices
- Declutter: less volume = less cost. Sell or donate what you do not need
- Pack yourself: even with standard service, preparing boxes reduces time (and cost)
- Book in advance: 4-6 weeks ahead allows negotiating better prices
